The sport of game hunting began as a means of supplying food for survival. It is believed that dogs were trained to hunt and ultimately were bred for their specialized hunting skills. Today dogs are still used for the purpose of assistance in hunting, such as waterfowl hunting.
In the earlier times hunters got much of their food by killing buffalo, bear, deer, and waterfowl. Earlier settlers depended upon wild animals and birds for meat. While in these modern times most people rely on grocery store chains and other food stores for meat, the sport of hunting is still very prevalent and quite a few people use it for the main source of meat and flesh.
Throughout time the sport of hunting has evolved as technology and weaponry improved, making hunting much easier and effective from further distances. Further, today there are various way to hunt game which include shotgun, rifle, and bow & arrow.
